Startup lock for Android

Use Startup Lock to keep prying eyes from launching SCRUFF on your Android device. Setup a password or use your fingerprint* to unlock SCRUFF at startup or after a specified amount of time. 

 

  1. Launch SCRUFF and tap Menu > Settings > Privacy Settings.
  2. Tap Configure for Startup lock.
  3. Toggle Enabled to on.
  4. Tap Password.
  5. Enter your desired password and confirm it by entering the same password again, then tap Done.
  6. Tap Auto-lock to configure when SCRUFF should auto-lock.
  • By default, startup lock will auto-lock after a period of inactivity (determined by the Android OS). This happens when the app is closed or in the background for an extended period of time.
  • Tap <- to exit Startup Lock configuration.
  • * Android 6.0+ and support Android Fingerprint API are required to use your fingerprint with Startup Lock. Select Samsung devices are not supported.

    1. Launch SCRUFF.
    2. Tap Menu > Settings > Privacy Settings.
    3. Tap Configure for Startup lock.
    4. Tap Auto-lock to configure when SCRUFF should auto-lock.
    5. Select an option from Default up to 2 hours
    • By default, startup lock will auto-lock after a period of inactivity (determined by the Android OS). This happens when the app is closed or in the background for an extended period of time.
  • Tap <- to exit Startup Lock configuration.
    1. Launch SCRUFF and enter your password.
    2. Tap Menu > Settings > Privacy Settings.
    3. Tap Disable startup password.
    4. Startup Lock is now disabled and will not be requested next time you start up SCRUFF.

    If you have forgotten your Startup Password, you will need to clear the app data for SCRUFF in Android settings in order to clear your password. Note: Clearing app data for SCRUFF will require you to accept terms and login again with your profile email and password.

    To clear app data from the Scruff app, follow the steps below.

    1. Open the Settings app Settings from your device's home screen.
    2. Tap Apps or Application manager (this may vary slightly based on your device).
    3. Select Scruff.
    4. Tap Storage and tap Ok.
    5. Tap Clear data.
    6. Launch SCRUFF and login to your profile.

    NOTE

    If you experience issues enabling, disabling or clearing app data, please navigate to SCRUFF Support in-app by tapping Menu > Contact SCRUFF Support or by tapping SUBMIT A REQUEST below.
